Autumn Inspired South Carolina Wedding

Stephanie and Adam’s South Carolina wedding was a beautiful, sophisticated Fall affair, full of gorgeous florals and personal touches. A color palette of Fall inspired jewel tones in goldenrod, peach, and red set the stage perfectly to create a relaxed, garden party style setting for their guests to enjoy. Planning their Lexington day from Washington, D.C., Stephanie and Adam smartly enlisted the help of By Invitation Only…Event Planning & Design to make their dream day a reality, and we think the result turned out gorgeously! Lucky for us, Kickstand Studio was there to captured each and every detail, and Stephanie is joining us today to share her planning insight, so sit back and take it all in!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I must admit that I had a very specific vision of what everything would look like and how everything would go on the day of leading up to our wedding. I had grand ideas, but not a very clear direction for execution. My mom, Sandy, helped me weed through the countless inspiration photos and ideas, and Lacy Geary, our wedding planner from By Invitation Only in Columbia, SC, helped make my vision a reality. Everything ended up more perfect than I could have imagined.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

Again, I knew what I wanted everything to look like in my head, but we needed lots of help planning, since Adam and I also lived in the Washington, DC area at the time. We ended up working with professionals who are all extremely creative and easy going, and could help execute my thoughts with very few details to go on. From the flowers to the invitations to the photography and videography, every piece fit together perfectly.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

Think elegant, Fall garden party. One of the first things I chose were the bridesmaids dresses. That color, goldenrod, helped drive the jewel tone palette that we selected for the flowers and all of the printed pieces, like the invitations and programs. My husband, Adam, selected formal tuxedos for the groomsman, which set the perfect backdrop for all of the color in our photos with friends and family. Our florist, Sarah Shell from Fern Studio, turned the Country Club’s dining room into a garden wonderland with the addition of the tree centerpieces!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

I have two favorite moments. First, Adam and I did a first look with our amazing photographer, Lucas Brown from Kickstand Studio, and it was the best decision we made. We had lots of casual time to walk around the Country Club grounds together before the ceremony and just be ourselves. I think it helped with nerves. My other favorite moment was at the end of the wedding ceremony, right before our first kiss, we did a big high-five! We had planned it in advance, but I think it shocked a few folks (in a good way), and really showed our personality as a couple – we were super pumped to finally be married!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Soak it all in! The wedding day is about you and your soon-to-be life partner having a great time and enjoying yourselves. Let someone else handle all the details that pop up. And, eat your dinner! You selected the lovely menu – make sure you get some!

Vendors who made it all happen…
